I feel like this is the perfect song to kick off this Substack residency.
Deep in the Seams is about getting older, being ill often, and feeling like maybe I should just cower in the corners. But my desires and lust for life are still strong. Like I still have things to say and that I don’t want to abandon my practice of making things and sharing them.
So here I am, sharing my most raw and intimate versions of my songwriting practice with you all. I definitely prefer to keep this early aspect of my work out of the institutions of labels and criticism and social media since these songs are still malleable and will change before finding their final (never truly final) iteration.
Instead, I am happy to share them here with this smallish group of listeners. Delighted to hear any feedback y’all might have. It’s very helpful for me to have some people to play my new songs for and get a gauge for what they are and where they could go.
Thank you so much for joining. If you haven’t become a paid subscriber yet, please consider doing so. We’d love to have you aboard and share these songs with you.
